Author rights
On Regarding Tomorrow, authors own their own work and are responsible for any and all legal issues arising from their postings. As an American, I believe everyone in the world should have freedom of speech. As such, I will do my best (shy of spending my children’s college funds on legal defenses) to support each member’s right to post their own original work and statements that do not conflict with our rules of conduct.
However, if proof is provided that a member knowingly and willingly plagiarized and posted prior work as their own, any such work will be removed, the member will be banned and we will have no choice but to work with copyright owners who have legitimate grievances. The best way to protect yourself and RT is to ONLY post original work that you created.
Seriously - in the age of instant Google searches, you have to be a serious sick person to think plagiarism can't be uncovered with 59 million hits in .21 seconds.
Author responsibilities
1. By posting content on this site, you are agreeing to the site’s current terms of service (both visitor and member TOS). These terms may be changed at any time, so please keep up on email updates.
2. This site is not designed or guaranteed to function as either a word processor or permanent online repository and you should always work offline before posting material on this site. In other words, bad things can happen to our site (hacked, database corruption, etc…) and your content can disappear no matter how well or hard we work to keep content backed up. Always do your original work in another location and copy and paste. We are not responsible for lost content for any reason.
Copyright
I’m not an expert on copyright, but as far as this site is concerned if you post it you own it. Your intellectual property is your intellectual property. We only add permission to use your work in digital copy for online marketing and the publishing of newsletters and PDF documents. Aside from digital use, I do hope to get member work into print some day. When we approach that point, permission will be requested through formal and legal process.
At any time, any member may use their work as they see fit. We do not limit or expect members to self limit to posting work on this site.
Deleting your work*
We would appreciate if everyone would leave their work on this site, as it will help to maintain links to prior work that is part of the evolution of newer ideas. However, your work is yours and you are welcome to remove both the account and delete content as you wish. (Be aware that in case of any system issue, if RT were to reinstall a backed up database, deleted work or even accounts might come back online. It is your responsibility to track work you own.)
*This function is not yet available. Permissions issues are not yet worked out, but we expect to have this in place prior to official launch.
